About Us: Vision

CARE
"By this all men will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another"
John 13:34

Our mission as a church reaches around the world, but it begins with the care of our own members. We want to provide a testimony of the love of Jesus Christ through the way we love and care for each other. We strive to provide an atmosphere in which love is cultivated through fellowship and common goals, and where acceptance is readily available.

We are a family-oriented church, with a goal to minister to every member of the family. From our nursery staff to our children's and youth workers and adult volunteers, we have put programs in place that make it possible for us to support and teach people of any age.

One way we care for our members is through our Helping Hands ministry. This important ministry works through our men's ministry and helps meet practical needs for our single moms, widows, and elderly members.

COMPASSION
When he saw the crowds, he had compassion on them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd
Matthew 9:36

Beyond the walls of our church, our mission reaches out to our surrounding communities. Just as Jesus showed compassion to the crowds of people that surrounded his ministry, so we must be aware of the needs of our community and do whatever we can to meet those needs.

We want Liberty Church to make a positive impact on our community, for it to be a better place because we are here. As a church we support several local ministries and charities, and our pastor is a member of the Du Quoin Area Ministerial Alliance.

One of our biggest outreach ministries to our community is the Back to School Blessing. With support from our members, local businesses and donations from area churches and organizations, we are able to help families in need with their back to school needs. Through this program we were able to give over 200 area children a back to school blessing.

COMMISSION
Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you
Matthew 28:19-20

These words of Jesus are often referred to as the great commission. Since the beginning of our church we have always strived to do our part to fulfill this commission - to take the Gospel to every nation.

Simply put - we are a world missions church! You can see on our missions page that we are active in supporting missionaries around the world. We hold a missions conference each year to get updates from our missionaries and find out what more we can be doing to assist them in their work. We also take short term missions trips to help out in other countries, and we are affiliated with several missions organizations making it easier for those who are called to the missions field to get there.
